Overview

Few sports dynasties were as dominant or as misunderstood as the Soviet hockey program that terrorized international competition throughout the Cold War. Director Gabe Polsky gains remarkable access to Slava Fetisov, the team's iron-willed defenseman and captain, whose story tracks the full arc of Soviet ambition: the brutal, almost mystical training methods that produced genius on ice, and the moment the state turned on the very men it had built into symbols of national pride.
