Overview
Fred Astaire plays a high-powered fashion photographer who spots something luminous in a quiet, bookish Greenwich Village shop girl, played by Audrey Hepburn, and convinces her to trade philosophy texts for the runways of Paris. What follows is less a conventional makeover story and more a gentle argument about beauty, intellect, and whether the two have to be strangers. Stanley Donen directs with his usual lightness, and Gershwin songs drift through the whole thing like a very good mood.
