Overview
Jack Carter makes his living doing dirty work for London gangsters, so he knows better than most what a convenient death looks like. When his brother turns up dead in Newcastle and the local police are happy to call it suicide, Carter heads north with questions nobody wants answered. What follows is a cold, methodical reckoning through the city's back rooms and terraced streets, driven less by grief than by a man who refuses to let the lie stand.
