Overview
Hanamichi Sakuragi has a talent for two things: brawling and getting dumped. His record stands at fifty rejections by the time he reaches high school, where a chance encounter with the kind and basketball-obsessed Haruko Akagi sends him sprinting toward the one sport he has never touched. Joining a nationally ambitious team to impress a girl sounds simple enough, until a gifted rival starts drawing her attention. What begins as lovesick desperation slowly becomes something Sakuragi never expected: genuine hunger to compete.
