Overview
A Saturday detention brings together five teenagers who have nothing in common except the school hallways they share. There is the rebel, the prom queen, the quiet weirdo, the straight-A student, and the varsity athlete. Stuck in a library for eight hours under a petty principal, they gradually drop the armor that high school demands they wear. John Hughes understood that adolescence is mostly performance, and this film remains his clearest argument for what lies beneath it.
