Overview
Before the IRS showed up and the dream caved in, Studio 54 was something New York had never seen before. Two Brooklyn kids, Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, turned a former TV studio into the center of late-1970s excess, where Halston, Liza, and Bianca Jagger rubbed shoulders with strangers off the street. Nearly four decades on, this documentary finally peels back the velvet rope and recounts what really went on inside, and why it all had to end.
