Overview
Three men with nothing in common find themselves sharing a New Orleans jail cell: a laid-off disc jockey, a small-time pimp, and a cheerful Italian tourist with a broken grasp of English but an unshakable optimism. Jim Jarmusch shoots it all in luminous black and white, letting long silences and odd conversations carry the weight. When the three finally make a run for the Louisiana bayou, freedom feels less like triumph and more like an open question.
