Overview
Set against the dust-blown flatlands of Depression-era Kansas, Peter Bogdanovich's film follows Moze, a small-time Bible salesman with a gift for separating grieving widows from their money. When a sharp-tongued nine-year-old named Addie lands in his care, possibly his own flesh and blood, the two become an unlikely grifting team. Shot in luminous black and white, it is a road movie about con artists who might just be conning each other.
