Overview
Jeffrey Wigand spent years developing cigarettes for a tobacco giant. When he agrees to tell what he knows on camera, the industry's legal machinery turns his life upside down, and the network executives tasked with airing his testimony start getting cold feet. Michael Mann's film is really about the slow erosion of nerve under institutional pressure, anchored by two extraordinary performances from Russell Crowe and Al Pacino as men trying to hold the line when every incentive points toward silence.
