Overview
Baltimore is the canvas, but the portrait is of America itself. David Simon's landmark series follows narcotics detectives and the drug crews they pursue with equal moral seriousness, refusing to assign heroes or villains. What emerges is a portrait of institutions, police departments, corners, schools, city halls, that grind individuals down while perpetuating their own survival. Season by season, the frame widens until the whole broken machinery of a city comes into view.
