Overview
Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s looks quiet enough through the eyes of six-year-old Scout Finch, a curious, sharp-tongued girl who spends summers with her brother Jem and their friend Dill, dreaming up stories about a reclusive neighbor named Boo Radley. But childhood gives way to something harder when Scout's father, lawyer Atticus Finch, agrees to defend Tom Robinson, a Black man facing a charge nobody believes he deserves. The trial forces the children to reckon with a cruelty they cannot yet name.
