Overview
Dean Corso traffics in rare books for money, not magic, but a wealthy collector pulls him into something far darker than a manuscript appraisal. Hired to locate two surviving copies of a 17th-century text allegedly co-authored by the Devil himself, Corso moves through Europe trailing forgeries, murders, and shadows that seem almost deliberate. Polanski shoots the whole thing with dry, unsettling patience, letting the dread accumulate like dust on old leather.
