Overview

On the Sugarcane Reserve in British Columbia, survivors and their descendants begin asking questions that colonial institutions spent decades trying to bury. When an investigation into abuse and missing children at a nearby Indian residential school surfaces hard truths, the community is forced to confront grief that was never allowed to be grieved. This documentary follows that reckoning with patience and moral seriousness, bearing witness to people who are finally being heard, and to a history Canada has long preferred to forget.
