Overview
Eight women, four mothers and four daughters, carry their histories across an ocean and across generations. The mothers grew up in pre-revolutionary China, shaped by poverty, arranged marriages, and survival. Their American-born daughters inherited a country but lost a language, and with it, a way of understanding where they came from. Moving between San Francisco and the distant past, the film traces how silence hardens into distance, and how stories, when finally told, can crack that distance open.
