Overview
In early twentieth-century Oklahoma, an eleven-year-old Black girl named Sarah Rector refuses to accept that her allotted land is worthless. When her instinct about oil beneath the soil proves correct, a new battle begins. Opportunists and industry sharks move fast, but Sarah moves smarter, leaning on family, trusted friends, and a band of Texas wildcatters to hold what is rightfully hers. Her story is one of the most remarkable financial rises in American history.
