Overview
When a meek Parisian renter takes possession of a modest apartment, the building's history begins to suffocate him. Whispers about his predecessor's death seep through the walls. Suspicious neighbors, cryptic glances, and small indignities accumulate into a siege of self-doubt. Roman Polanski's portrait of urban isolation asks whether the apartment is corrupting its tenant, or whether something darker within him finds fertile ground in loneliness and alienation.
