Overview
A retired detective is drawn back into the game when a serial killer targets young girls across the city. Desperate for answers, he seeks out an unconventional criminologist who teaches him to inhabit the killer's psychology. As Fisher adopts this immersive technique, the line between investigator and perpetrator blurs in deeply unsettling ways. Lars von Trier's debut film merges noir atmosphere with speculative elements, charting a psychological descent that questions whether understanding evil requires becoming it.
