Overview
Jerry Lundegaard is a desperate man with a foolproof idea: hire two criminals to kidnap his own wife and split the ransom money from his wealthy father-in-law. Naturally, things go sideways fast, and bodies start piling up in the frozen Minnesota landscape. The person standing between the killers and a clean getaway is Marge Gunderson, the very pregnant, deeply sensible local police chief whose cheerful disposition hides a remarkably sharp investigative mind.
