Overview
Two restless boys growing up in a sleepy corner of Western Australia find an unlikely mentor in Sando, a charismatic older surfer who introduces them to the rush of riding dangerous waves. What begins as an escape from small-town boredom slowly pulls both teenagers into riskier territory, physically and emotionally. Based on Tim Winton's acclaimed novel, the film is a quiet, sun-drenched coming-of-age story about the cost of chasing sensation and the people who shape us at our most impressionable.
