Overview
The San Fernando Valley, 1977. Eddie Adams is a busboy with a gift he barely understands until porn director Jack Horner spots it and hands him a new name: Dirk Diggler. Paul Thomas Anderson tracks Eddie's ascent through a loose, sun-drenched family of adult film performers, technicians, and lost souls, then watches the whole thing buckle under the weight of cocaine and changing times. It is a film about ambition dressed up as pleasure, and the gap between the two.
