Overview
Baltimore, 1959. Six friends keep returning to their favorite late-night diner, ordering the same food and rehashing the same arguments, because stepping outside means facing marriages, careers, and futures they are not sure they want. Barry Levinson's debut feature is a quiet, funny, and surprisingly tender portrait of that last sliver of time before real life arrives uninvited. The conversations feel overheard rather than scripted, and the ensemble work is some of the finest of its decade.
