Overview
A respected New York doctor thinks he knows his marriage, his city, and himself. One late-night confession from his wife shatters all three assumptions. Kubrick's final film follows Bill Harford through an increasingly surreal nocturnal odyssey, drawn toward a secret society whose rituals exist at the intersection of wealth, desire, and danger. What begins as wounded jealousy curdles into something far stranger, a meditation on intimacy, illusion, and how little any of us truly see.
