Overview
In 1947, Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl assembled a ragtag crew and lashed together a primitive balsa raft to attempt what everyone said was impossible: crossing the Pacific Ocean. His mission wasn't just survival but archaeology. By recreating the voyage he believed ancient South Americans had made centuries earlier, Heyerdahl hoped to rewrite history and prove that pre-Columbian civilizations could have reached Polynesia. The film captures both the audacity and the terror of men betting their lives on historical theory.
