Overview
Few films ask their central question as honestly as David Lean's 1962 epic: what does a man become when he reinvents himself entirely? T.E. Lawrence, a restless British officer dispatched to the Arabian Peninsula during the First World War, discovers a cause larger than empire and a self he barely recognizes. Across desert campaigns and shifting alliances, he helps forge a fragile Arab coalition against Ottoman rule, paying a psychological price the history books rarely mention.
