Overview
Buster Keaton plays a small-town movie projectionist with big dreams of cracking cases, and his chance arrives when a scheming rival plants stolen goods on him and poisons his girlfriend's father against him. Equal parts slapstick and genuine invention, the film's central sequence, where Keaton literally walks into a movie screen and stumbles through a shifting dreamscape, remains one of silent cinema's most audacious pieces of visual storytelling. Forty-five minutes that justify the entire medium.
