Overview
At a suburban grocery store, two assistant managers discover they are competing for the same promotion, and the politeness quickly wears thin. Doug is a local guy who figures the job is basically already his. Richard is a transplant from Canada with a self-help tape habit and something to prove. Writer-director Steve Conrad turns this small-stakes rivalry into something surprisingly honest about ambition, class anxiety, and how badly ordinary people want to feel like they matter.
