Overview
A brilliant Japanese neurosurgeon working in Germany saves the life of a young boy, only to watch that act of compassion spiral into decades of consequence. When the child grows up to become a serial killer, Dr. Kenzou Tenma abandons his career and crosses a darkening Europe to correct what he set in motion. Equal parts psychological portrait and moral reckoning, Monster asks whether one good deed can ever outweigh the catastrophe it enables.
