The crown is up for grabs. So is everything else.

Overview

Christmas court, 1183. Henry II releases Eleanor of Aquitaine from prison for the holidays, and what follows is less a family reunion than a chess match played with crowns. Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn tear into each other across a medieval castle, trading barbs about power, loyalty, and old wounds that never healed. Three sons circle like wolves, each angling for the throne. Wit, fury, and cold political calculation make this one of cinema's great verbal battlefields.
