Overview
Guy Trilby is forty years old, deeply unpleasant, and absolutely determined to compete in a national spelling bee meant for children. He finds a technical loophole in the eligibility rules and exploits it with zero remorse. What follows is a sharp, mean-spirited comedy about a man with a mysterious grudge, a journalist trying to figure out his angle, and a kid who somehow befriends him anyway. Jason Bateman directs himself here, and the film is funnier for his complete commitment to being the worst person in the room.
