Overview
In Tehran, a young man named Hossain Sabzian is arrested for convincing a middle-class family that he is the celebrated director Mohsen Makhmalbaf. Abbas Kiarostami takes that stranger-than-fiction incident and folds it back on itself, recruiting the actual participants to reenact their own story on camera. What emerges is something genuinely strange and moving: a film about cinephilia as longing, about the dignity found in pretending to be someone the world might actually respect.
