Overview
Four people in Coney Island chase private versions of happiness, and each one has found a shortcut. A widow fixates on a television dream and the diet pills that promise to get her there. Her son and his friends spiral deeper into heroin, funding highs with increasingly desperate measures. Darren Aronofsky shoots their slow unraveling with a visceral, almost unbearable intensity, turning the story of addiction into something closer to a waking nightmare about what desire does to the body and the mind.
