Overview
Charles is the sort of man who has attended so many weddings he could probably officiate one himself, yet has never quite managed to fall in love. Then an American named Carrie walks into a reception, and suddenly the calendar of social obligations starts to feel like something more complicated. Richard Curtis's sharp, warm script tracks five gatherings across the British social scene, measuring the distance between charm and commitment, and asking whether the right person showing up at the wrong time is really the wrong time at all.
