Overview
Ted Crawford shoots his wife, calls the police, and hands over the gun. The case looks airtight, almost insultingly so, for Willy Beachum, a sharp young prosecutor already angling toward a lucrative private-sector job. But Crawford, an aeronautical engineer who understands how systems fail, has built something into his confession that Beachum cannot immediately see. What follows is a quiet, merciless duel between a man who thinks he has already won and one who refuses to accept that he has lost.
