Overview
Werner Herzog's documentary examines Timothy Treadwell, an eccentric naturalist who spent thirteen summers alone in Alaska's bear country, living alongside grizzlies he believed he could protect through sheer force of will. Through Treadwell's own footage and Herzog's probing lens, the film becomes a meditation on obsession, the limits of human connection with wild creatures, and the dangerous fantasy of being nature's savior rather than its observer.
