Overview
South Africa in 1994 is a nation holding its breath. Nelson Mandela steps into the presidency of a country still fractured along racial lines, and he makes an unlikely bet: that a rugby team, once a symbol of white minority rule, can become a source of shared pride. Working directly with captain Francois Pienaar, Mandela steers the Springboks toward the 1995 Rugby World Cup with something larger than sport in mind. Clint Eastwood directs with quiet authority.
