Overview
Rainer Werner Fassbinder plays a hard-drinking police lieutenant in a near-future West Germany where a single media conglomerate controls every image citizens are permitted to see. When anonymous bomb threats start rattling the corporation's headquarters, his investigation pulls him toward a hidden thirty-first floor and the uncomfortable truths buried inside it. Equal parts satire and paranoid procedural, the film wears its leopard-print suits and neon lighting like armor against a society that has mistaken conformity for peace.
