Overview
Charlotte Flax has spent her entire adolescence packing boxes and starting over in yet another strange town, all because her mother, Mrs. Flax, runs from commitment the way other people run from bad weather. When a small Massachusetts town and a patient local shopkeeper offer something resembling stability, Charlotte dares to want roots. But her own messy infatuation with an older man threatens to upend everything, forcing this fractured, funny household to finally reckon with who they are to each other.
