Overview
On a remote Danish farm, old Morten Borgen watches his three sons pull in opposite directions. One son shares his faith, another has quietly abandoned it, and the third wanders the fields convinced he is Jesus Christ reborn. When a difficult birth brings the family to a moment of genuine crisis, Carl Theodor Dreyer turns a quiet domestic story into one of cinema's most searching examinations of what belief actually costs, and what it might be capable of.
