Overview
Chris Taylor volunteered for Vietnam expecting something noble and came back a different person entirely. Oliver Stone's semi-autobiographical war film follows a college dropout thrust into the jungles of Southeast Asia, where the real conflict turns out to be not between American soldiers and the Viet Cong, but between two sergeants who represent opposing ideas of what men become under pressure. Barnes and Elias fight over the soul of their platoon, and Chris is caught in the middle.
