Overview
Miles is a failed writer who drinks too much and broods too often. Jack is his college buddy, a cheerful philanderer with a wedding looming in a week. Together they drive through the Santa Ynez Valley on what is supposed to be a celebratory send-off, tasting Pinot Noirs and chasing women. What they find instead is a mirror held up to their respective disasters. Alexander Payne's comedy is tender, melancholy, and very funny about the particular sadness of men who peaked too early.
