Overview
When the woman he loves is murdered by an English garrison, Scottish farmer William Wallace does something reckless: he fights back. What begins as one man's grief quickly catches fire across the Scottish Highlands, pulling clan after clan into open rebellion against the crown of Edward I. Mel Gibson's sweeping historical epic trades in mud, sacrifice, and the complicated cost of freedom, asking whether a nation's liberation is worth the lives it demands from those who dare to want it.
