Overview
A young Southern writer arrives in postwar Brooklyn dreaming of literary glory, and instead finds himself drawn into the orbit of two magnetic, self-destructing people. Sophie, a Polish immigrant carrying wounds she cannot name, and Nathan, brilliant but increasingly unstable, become his entire world. As Stingo falls in love with Sophie's warmth and mystery, the full weight of what she survived at Auschwitz slowly surfaces, leading toward a truth too devastating to outrun.
