Overview
Ron Woodroof was not the kind of man anyone expected to become an activist. A hard-drinking, bull-riding Texan with a taste for cocaine and a deep suspicion of anything outside his narrow worldview, he received an HIV diagnosis in 1986 and was told he had thirty days. He spent the next several years proving every doctor wrong, smuggling unapproved treatments across the border and building an underground network that forced the medical establishment to reckon with its own failures.
