Overview
Los Angeles in the late 1980s is a city divided by color, literally. Two LAPD officers patrol the gang-saturated streets of East L.A. and South Central, where red and blue mean everything and a wrong turn can end a life. The veteran knows when to bend the rules; the rookie thinks he can break them. Their friction, played out against a backdrop of real societal rot, gives Dennis Hopper's film an urgency that still registers.
