Overview
Philadelphia, 1976. Vince Papale is a thirty-year-old bartender with no college football background, a failing marriage behind him, and no particular reason to believe his life is about to change. Then the Eagles open their tryouts to the public, a stunt most fans dismiss as a publicity exercise. Papale shows up anyway. What follows is one of the stranger true stories in NFL history, a working-class guy from South Philly earning a roster spot through sheer refusal to quit. Mark Wahlberg plays Papale with grounded conviction, and Greg Kinnear brings genuine warmth to Dick Vermeil, the coach who believed an open door was worth something.
