Overview

Bob Harris is a fading Hollywood actor, adrift in a Tokyo hotel while filming a whiskey advertisement he barely cares about. Charlotte is young, sharp, and quietly unraveling while her photographer husband ignores her. Neither belongs here, and neither can sleep. Sofia Coppola's 2003 film is built on what two strangers do when ordinary life stops making sense, trading karaoke confessions and 4 a.m. conversations in a city that keeps its own mysterious counsel.
