Overview
Scotland, blood-soaked and beautiful, becomes the backdrop for one soldier's unraveling. After battlefield prophecies plant a poisonous idea in General Macbeth's mind, his fiercely ambitious wife fans the ember into a consuming fire. What follows is a portrait of two people who want the crown so badly they hollow themselves out to get it. Justin Kurzel's adaptation strips Shakespeare down to raw sinew, leaning hard on mud, fog, and Michael Fassbender's haunted stillness.
