Overview

In 1932 Alabama, a Black nurse becomes caught between her Hippocratic oath and government authority when she realizes the rural patients under her care are unwilling participants in a syphilis study. As decades pass and a cure emerges, her silence becomes complicity. This unflinching examination of institutional racism and medical exploitation traces how one woman's compromised choices had devastating consequences for men betrayed by the system meant to heal them.
