Overview
Woody Grant is convinced he has won a million dollars. His son David is convinced the letter is junk mail. What follows is a road trip through the fading American heartland, shot in black and white, where the real prize turns out to be something neither man expected. Alexander Payne finds quiet comedy and genuine sorrow in equal measure, letting Bruce Dern carry the film with a performance built almost entirely from stubbornness and silence.
