Overview
Jamal Malik, an eighteen-year-old from the Mumbai slums, has just answered every question correctly on India's version of 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire?' The police suspect cheating. But the real answer lies in Jamal's past, a brutal and tender mosaic of street survival, brotherly betrayal, and a girl he has never been able to forget. Danny Boyle's film moves between interrogation room and memory with furious energy, arguing that some lives contain exactly the education that no school can provide.
